We do have approved and downloadable templates available on Brand Central. Please follow the steps on the template chooser page to get the correct template.
Pre-approved and downloadable letterhead templates for larger CME Group locations are now available on Brand Central on the template chooser page. As noted within the template chooser process, letterhead templates may be used for general correspondence only. If necessary, please follow the process to receive legal approval on your piece(s) of correspondence and contact brand@cmegroup.com if you have any questions or need a template with a different address. At this time, please note letterhead templates for sub-brands are not available on Brand Central.
All employees are responsible for classifying the electronic data/records they create or update in accordance with existing processes and policies. There are four data classification categories historically used by CME Group as set forth in the document templates. A description of each classification along with a link to CME Group’s confidentiality policy can be found downloaded here.
A comprehensive writing style guide is available for employees and should be referenced when composing written content to ensure consistency across all materials. Please reference the writing style guide page for more information.
To get the correct logo and file format, please go to the logo chooser.
Proper representation of a sub-brand logo is dependent on the type of communication or piece it is applied to. In sub-brand-driven communications (e.g., tradeshow booths, sales presentations and marketing collateral) the sub-brand wordmark takes the lead. For CME Group-driven communications (e.g., letterhead, business cards and other corporate communications) the CME Group logo will lead. In all instances the CME Group logo should always be present to reinforce the sub-brand's relationship to the masterbrand. Please refer to the Brand Guidelines for further information and/or contact brand@cmegroup.com with any questions on how to properly apply sub-brand representation to a piece of communication.
Various communication tools can be utilized leading up to and/or at an event, each having its own specific purpose, including:
A booth/exhibit backdrop is to be utilized for Brand representation only at a conference/tradeshow and should always feature the CME Group logo prominently in the top left hand corner (or shifted to the right hand corner if a sub-brand logo should be included as well). Additional messaging or copy, especially in the form of bullet points, should never be included on a booth/tradeshow exhibit backdrop and the logo should never be obstructed.
A pull-up banner can be used in conjunction with a booth backdrop or independently to promote a specific product/service and should include clear, concise messaging (word count restrictions apply). The CME Group (and sub-brand logo where applicable) should be prominently featured in the top left hand corner and should never be obstructed.
Marketing collateral (e.g. brochure or fact sheet) can be developed to have as a leave-behind, providing more details about a specific product/service, including a CTA and contact information. A video without sound and/or product demonstration can also be utilized to provide additional messaging and tell the story of a specific product/service.
All branded and creative assets for events, including booth graphics, print collateral, trade show and promotional materials, must be submitted to and approved by brand@cmegroup.com prior to use.
CME Group products and services should never be treated with a distinct logo or lockup, but rather should appear as type-only treatments and alongside the CME Group logo. Please refer to the Brand Guidelines for further detail regarding the treatment of products and services.
The use of customized and/or altered PowerPoint templates is not permitted. At this time, only the brand-approved PowerPoint templates available for download through the template chooser page are permitted for use. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please contact brand@cmegroup.com.
A CME Group or sub-brand product/service name should appear in the same style as the surrounding text when included in the body copy of a piece of communication. The type treatment should appear in the CME Group typeface, Averta, whenever possible, or in Arial on applications when Averta is not available.
A specific division or department within CME Group may only be represented in text as logo treatments are reserved for CME Group and the two sub-brands. The type treatment should appear in the same style as the surrounding text when included in the body copy of a piece of communication.
Specific guidelines and restrictions regarding the use of the CME Group logo, including approved color, sizing and clearspace, are outlined within the Brand Guidelines. If you have any questions regarding the application and use of our logo, please contact brand@cmegroup.com.
Corporate Brand approval, along with legal approval in most cases as well, must be obtained on a branded piece of communication and/or marketing collateral before it is able to be distributed. This includes brochures, fact sheets, social media graphics, and more. Please refer to the Governance Policy page for further information on this approval process.
The only logo(s) that should be included in the banner of a CME Group email communication and/or event invitation is the CME Group logo (and sub-brand logo, if applicable). The name of the third party(ies) can be mentioned in the subject, heading and/or body copy of an email/event invitation, but the logo should not be featured in the banner of the email/event invitation. If the third party(ies) would like their logo featured somewhere on the email/event invitation, it can be included at the bottom with a notation of the relationship to the content (e.g. “in partnership with” or “event partner” for an event invitation).
The CME Group and/or sub-brand logo(s) cannot be featured in the banner or header image of a piece of email communication and/or event invitation being distributed by a third party(ies). Instead, CME Group and/or the sub-brand can be mentioned in the subject, heading and/or body copy of an email/event invitation being distributed by a third party(ies). Similar to the treatment of a third party(ies) logo in a piece of CME Group-driven email communication and/or event invitation, in specific cases the CME Group and/or sub-brand logo(s) can be featured at the bottom with a notation of the relationship to the content (e.g. “in partnership with” or “event partner” for an event invitation). Any usage of the CME Group and/or sub-brand logo(s) in a piece of communication and/or event invitation being distributed by a third party(ies) must receive approval from the Brand team prior to distribution.
Pre-approved CME Group-branded gifts/items must be sourced through Gifts@cmegroup.com to ensure they are brand compliant. If you have any questions regarding our branded merchandise or have a request to create a custom item, please email Gifts@cmegroup.com.
Yes, under CME Group’s Gift and Entertainment Policy, a gift provided to an individual who is not a Government Official with a value equal to or less than USD$100 does not require pre-approval. Any gift with a value over USD$100 per person requires documented pre-approval from your Manager. Only pre-approved CME Group-branded items and/or custom requests sourced through Gifts@cmegroup.com with a nominal value equal to or less than USD$40 may be provided to a representative of an entity that is considered a Government Official. Please contact CME.Compliance@cmegroup.com if you have any questions regarding this policy.
Yes, we have an approved company profile for CME Group as well as the two sub-brands. If a company profile is needed, please contact brand@cmegroup.com with additional detail regarding your request (e.g. planned usage and/or placement of the profile). To ensure you are receiving the most up to date profile information, please contact brand@cmegroup.com for each individual request rather than utilizing a profile provided for a previous request. As a reminder, the Global Brand Marketing and Events team should be the only group to distribute CME Group’s logo, company profile or other proprietary materials to a third party.
All events are managed by the Global Events Team to ensure their success and should be added to the Global Events Calendar via a Cvent event request form, including event sponsorships. For event sponsorships, a formal agreement/contract will need to be routed through Procurement for review and to obtain the proper signatures. Once an agreement/contract is in place, the Global Events Team needs to be informed of the event sponsorship via a Cvent event request form and should be the only group to distribute CME Group’s logo, company description or other proprietary materials. If you have any questions, please contact the Global Events Team or visit the Events page.
All speakers must receive approval by the Internal Speakers Bureau before committing to an engagement. If you receive an invitation to speak at an external event, please have your manager’s approval to participate in the event prior to filling out the Global Event and Speakers Bureau Request Form on OpenExchange. Once the form has been submitted, expect a response on your speaking request within 72 hours.
An event request can be submitted regardless if all specifics have been confirmed. Once the event has been submitted into Cvent, an event manager will be assigned to your event and can assist with confirming any remaining details, including location, materials, etc. Please be sure to mark the status of the event as “tentative” when submitting your event request form if the date and/or event has not yet been confirmed. If you have any questions, please contact the Global Events Team or visit the Events page.
For all internal and external digital video needs, please visit OpenExchange to complete a broadcast and digital request form. If you do not have access to OpenExchange, please send a detailed description of your request to bcdc@cmegroup.com.
